Empaths and the Full Moon: What you should know

The full moon is perhaps the most beautiful, yet mysterious time during the month.  It’s lore is steeped with superstitions going back eons and it’s power remains one of lifes great mysteries.

While this is all well and good, every time the moon goes full some strange things happen to many of us, and like most other empaths, I sometimes get lost in confusion.

So here are some things to expect during a full moon, especially if you are hypersensitive like me.

  1. Exhaustion:  You might find yourself inexplicably exhausted even after what seems like a terrific nights sleep and plenty of coffee.  This most recent moon, I was sitting at my table feeling completely fine.  At 12:30pm I started to feel like I could no longer keep my eyes open, and I was yawning every five minutes.  Knowing that the moon can affect me in this way, I decided to check and sure enough, the moon was going full at 12:45pm.
  2. Anxiety: If you are feeling your anxiety heighten, it might be a good time to check in with the moon.  As empaths, we are so sensitive to even the subtlest energy shift, we can literally go into panic mode if we are not grounded and drinking enough water.
  3. Sleeplessness:  I know, I know, it would seem to contradict my first point, but sleepless nights are definitely part of the empath full moon experience.  If you find yourself tossing and turning, you might want to take a peek at the sky and see if the moon is  full.  Often times this can occur a few days before and after the full moon.
  4. Moodiness: If the moon can move tides across vast oceans it can certainly alter our watery emotional body.  If you find yourself feeling especially moody for no reason, this too may be due to the moon.

It is no accident that most ER’s double their staff during the full moon period, as there is a higher rate of visits.

While the idea that people go “crazy” is a little far fetched, it is not totally without merit.  It can certainly feel that way when we are suddenly besieged with an onslaught of emotion that seemingly comes out of nowhere.

If you find yourself going through the full moon blues remember to drink a lot of water, and if you can rest try and catch a few minutes to reset your energy system.  Sage can really be helpful as is meditation, yoga and chanting.  Anything that grounds you will be very important to utilize for a happy and safe passage through this time.

As with all things, this phase will pass, so try not to let it worry you. And of course, if you are so inclined to strip naked and go running into the forest in some epic full moon ceremony, don’t worry we won’t judge you…just try and refrain from doing it in public. 😉

Until Next Time,

Keep Seeking,

TPJ
